Determination of halogens in geological reference materials using neutron irradiation noble gas mass spectrometry

چکیده
We determined the heavy halogen (Cl, Br, and I) concentrations of fourteen powdered geological reference materials distributed by Geological Survey Japan (GSJ) US Survey, seven original blocks GSJ materials, using neutron irradiation noble gas mass spectrometry (NI-NGMS). The obtained from powder are systematically lower than their values for low-concentration samples. This discrepancy can be explained contamination on sample surface during preparation materials. Contaminated halogen-derived gases were, at least partially, removed before analysis preheating samples under vacuum after loading. presence contaminated component in is not a matter other analytical methods as long completely homogenized analysis. However, present results indicate that standard used NI-NGMS should selected more carefully those methods. In addition, we propose an F-determination method based Ne systematics neutron-irradiated • were analyzed NI-NGMS. Halogens some A fluorine determination proposed.

Mass-Independent and Mass-Dependent Ca Isotopic Compositions of Thirteen Geological Reference Materials Measured by Thermal Ionisation Mass Spectrometry
We report mass-independent and mass-dependent Ca isotopic compositions for thirteen geological reference materials, including carbonates (NIST SRM 915a and 915b), Atlantic seawater as well as ten rock reference materials ranging from peridotite to sandstone, using traditional e and d values relative to NIST SRM 915a, respectively. Isotope ratio determinations were conducted by independent unspi...

Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry in negative chemical ionization (NCI) 11 mode has been applied to the quantification and reliable identification of polybrominated 12 diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in animal and vegetable samples from aquaculture activities. 13 Matrices analyzed included fish fillet, fish feed, fish oil and linseed oil, which their fat content 14 ranged from 5 to 100%. ...
متن کاملDetermination of Trace Level Iodine in Biological and Botanical Reference Materials by Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry
A method has been developed for the determination of trace level iodine in biological and botanical materials. The method consists of spiking a sample with 129I, equilibration of the spike with the natural iodine, wet ashing under carefully controlled conditions, and separation of the iodine by co-precipitation with silver chloride. Measurement of the 129I/127I ratio is accomplished by negative...

Perchloroethylene Analysis by Chemical Oxidation and Determination of Intermediate Products by Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry
Abstract Background and Objective: Perchloroethylene (PCE) is a chlorinated hydrocarbon used as a solvent in many industrial processes. In contaminated water and soil a great deal of PCE is found. This study aimed to determine the rate of decomposition of PCE occurred after advanced oxidation. Material and Methods: In this descriptive-analytic study conducted (2011) in public health faculty...
